BFP Reminds Public on Fire Safety
during Holy Week Vacation
13 April 2011
As the Holy Week vacation approaches, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) once again reminds the public to ensure fire safety during the whole duration of the Lenten season. BFP prompts the safety of every household from the danger of fire during the entire vacation.
The BFP nationwide through its Regional, Provincial and City/ Municipal Fire Stations will monitor places every time to alertly contain the possibilities of fire incidents.
The BFP, together with concerned government agencies, will also assist in the preservation of peace and order, and in safeguarding populated areas. Some personnel will be deployed at terminals, piers and highways to assist/respond in case of emergency. BFP will also be monitoring 24 hours to ensure that any untoward incident would be prevented.
Meanwhile, the BFP conveys to the public fire safety reminders to prevent the occurrence of fire for a fire-free vacation. Before leaving the house, always unplug electrical appliances; switch off the main source of power; do not leave lighted candles, lamps or cigarettes; close LPG valve; and secure flammable/combustible substances in a safe area. If possible, ask your neighbor or nearby friend/ relative to check your house from time to time.
Since holy week falls on summer season, the public is advised to be more cautious against fire. People should be aware that their safety starts at home. The bureau will continue monitoring the community in the whole duration of “Semana Santa” to ensure a solemn and safe holiday for the public.//
