Competitions at School

At the height of the observance of the 2011 Fire Prevention Month, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted school contests emphasizing this year’s theme, “Kahandaan sa Sunog…tungo sa Kaunlaran.” The competitions include poster making contest, photo contest, drawing and essay writing contest.
The participants were from private and public schools of the different regions nationwide. The contest proper was held on March 10, 2011 in the selected competition sites of their respective regions. All entries which were declared winners at the regional level automatically competed in the national level.
Fourteen entries for poster making contest and eight entries for the photo contest were qualified for the national level which were exhibited at the 4th floor of the SM North Edsa Annex. The judging of the said two competitions was held on March 25, 2011, while the drawing and essay writing contests were judged on March 27 at SM San Lazaro.
The entry from NCR by Jerrika C. Shi of St. Jude Catholic High School won the 1st place for the poster making contest. Daniel Sheen B. Yanuario from Region 8 won the 2nd place and Wesley Jelo C. Almazar of Ramon Magsaysay High School, also an entry from the NCR got the 3rd place.
In photo contest, the entry of Rejina Jane Tabajonda from Region 3 won the 1st place, while entries of Preslou Glory Genovate of Region 6 and Jeane Renee T. Nubla of NCR got the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
The drawing contest was dominated by Artgiveson C. Arreglado of Sto. Niño SPED Center, Region 8. Trisha Co Reyes of St. Stephen’s High School (NCR) placed 2nd and Jamia Mei Tolentino of St. Stephen's High School from NCR placed 3rd.
Krischelle Marie I. Omoy of Sto. Niño SPED Center in Region 8 excelled in the essay writing contest – elementary level. Jewel Mae S. Cadiz of Cabarroguis Central School in Region 2 placed 2nd and Audrey Kristen R. Dela Vega of San Fernando Elementary School, Region 3, placed 3rd. In high school level, Danica S. Magno of Zeferino Arroyo High School, Region 5 won the 1st place. Ma. Cecilia Frias of Mandurriao National High School, Region 6, got the 2nd place and Ena Bernadine V. Padernga of Fatima College of Camiguin, Region 10 on the 3rd place.
All winners will be awarded cash and certificates on March 31, 2011 during the 45th Fire Prevention Month Culminating Ceremony at the BFP National Headquarters in Quezon City.
