What is PSIS The Public Safety Information System is a joint project under the leadership of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and other local agencies namely: Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) and agencies under the Office of the President: Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Philippine Center on Transnational Crime (PCTC). Objective The project's objective is the reporting, investigating and monitoring through the digital system of all public safety and peace and order related incidents. The PSIS will also integrate and enhance the existing Patrol 117 of the DILG. Benefits The PSIS will be linked to the Geographic Information System (GIS) that will indicate and view geographical data with photographs of the National Capital Region (NCR) indicating road works, building footprints, such as: government buildings and offices, police and fire stations, hospitals, schools, and vital installations such as: power plants, transmission lines, oil depot, refineries, gas stations, and major landmarks. The GIS will include graphical representation of population with regards to density and capacity for expansion or decline. The system will also be capable of providing geographical data monitoring and analysis of emergency and crime pattern that will aid the law enforcers in the evaluation of peace and order in the country. The GIS that will be used must be attuned with the other existing GIS Application installed in other government agencies to avoid incompatibility and interconnectivity issues. The PSIS will feature a report linkage and uniform crime reporting system among the major components of the criminal justice system wherein all data are stored at a central repository located at Camp Crame and will be shared by other identified participating agencies. The same data will accessible for viewing by the Office of the President, Cabinet Cluster on Security and Public Safety, Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation. The PSIS will have a separate application systems for each of the agencies mentioned above. The application systems to be developed will be based on their main business process and/or functions.
installed at the Emergency 117 and also at selected pilot areas of the participating agencies in NCR within a year. The deployment of the system through out the whole NCR stations will be on the second year.
